The Pirate Strikes Again!

Mike Leach is back doing what he does best: pissing people off. This time it's Claude Mathis, head coach at the Texas football powerhouse, DeSoto High School. Mathis is so irritated with Leach that he decreed, "Washington State isn't welcome at DeSoto any longer." But no big deal, it's just one of the highest ranked high school programs in the country with NFL alumni like Von Miller, Mike Thomas, Patrick Crayton, Tatum Bell, and Ellis Hobbs to name a few.

Leach is the pioneer of the Dickhead Offense.

What did Leach do to make Mathis so angry? Here is the full story, but I'll paraphrase: DeSoto recruit Myron Turner committed to WSU back in October. He shut down his recruitment and turned away other suitors (for Wazzu? Yeah, I don't get it either...). Turner took his official visit to Pullman last weekend, but on Monday, Leach called Mathis and told him that Wazzu was rescinding their scholarship offer to Turner... with Signing Day two weeks away and three months after Turner committed to the school.

To make matters worse, Leach actually traveled down to DeSoto last week, met with Coach Mathis, and didn't mention anything about Turner's scholarship being in jeopardy. What. A. Dick.

Once again we're reminded that Mike Leach lacks any semblance of tact and burns bridges everywhere he goes. It's hard enough to attract elite talent to Wazzu without unnecessarily pissing off coaches and recruits.

Now THAT is how you dissuade potential recruits. Not making fun of a recruit for making fun of your school's parties. Got a fair amount of whining for that one...

The question now becomes, who will Leach piss off next? Maybe he can alienate Bellevue coach Butch Goncharoff too!
